If I could think of three thousand positive words to quickly sputter, they would all be directed towards R&B/Pop/Soul talent LaDeana (LUH-DEE-NUH) Michelle, who, in my opinion, is going to be one of the next superstars in the entertainment industry.
Born in Oakland, CA, home of industry favorites Keyshia Cole, En Vogue, Ledisi, Tony, Toni, Tone and more, LaDeana Michelle is a prodigy—a jack of all trades, if you will—as a multi-octave vocalist, songwriter, producer, arranger, composer, actress, screenwriter, print model, designer, poet, author, and business mogul. Some of her family members include the incredible, legendary Sam Cooke and the higher-pitched, distinctive, voice of The Temptations, Eddie Kendricks. I don’t know about anyone else, but I GET that she’s related to Sam Cooke. The feeling in her voice is undeniable—just as his was. Sam Cooke was a legend. I am certain LaDeana Michelle will be, as well. There are more celebs in her family (including a former NBA player and another legendary female singing group), but enough about that.

For Valentine’s Day, LaDeana Michelle has decided to grace us with “Inside Love’s Window”, an exclusive, digital-only love song package, downloadable through CDBaby.com, her official artist website, LaDeanaMichelle.com, iTunes and a host of other online retailers, featuring two deeply-felt songs, “I Can’t” and “More Than Friends”.
Only one word describes “Inside Love’s Window”: PHENOMENAL.
Not only is LaDeana Michelle’s voice simply beautiful, but the songs are outstanding and bring all things back to love. Love? Now there’s a word that seems to be missing from today’s society. Not so with LaDeana Michelle. “Inside Love’s Window” is part an affair she calls her “Love Quarter” campaign, which runs January 1st through March 31st every year for ten years, promoting love, social awareness, unity and change through music and visual arts. She recently released a video, entitled “SEVEN” under this campaign, which is an intriguing mix of live footage and still images, and has to be one of the most unusual, but strikingly captivating videos I’ve seen in a while.

Just as you are pulled into world issues such as racism, homelessness and genocide, LaDeana Michelle switches by song and shows you love, romance and…sensual stuff. Muy Caliente! It is a must-see. Otherwise, you just won’t understand as you should. Nevertheless, it is a spectacular mix of seven of her self-produced songs, of which all seven are amazing. Her voice is amazing. The MEN in the video…are amazing.

By the way…if anyone is thinking that LaDeana Michelle will be a slow-song only artist like Brian McKnight, Rachelle Ferrell or Luther Vandross, then maybe you need to do your research. I did. LaDeana Michelle fully produces (like a Timbaland or Scott Storch) and can do Hip-Hop, House, Pop, Rock, R&B, Neo-Soul, Gospel, Adult Contemporary, Country and Jazz. I believe she’s also self-taught on seven instruments, trained on two more and reads/charts music. She writes her own video concepts and treatments, commercial jingles, budgets and contracts (she studied law) and is working on several films and books. Her debut tour will possibly begin internationally and she will soon enter negotiations for a biopic feature film on several music legends. The appropriate question would be…what doesn’t she do?
You must also remember that LaDeana Michelle’s “Love Quarter” campaign runs from January 1st through March 31st, of which such slow love songs would make sense to release. After that…I’ll bet my life you will start to hear those strong, beat-driven fast and medium slams that dominate the clubs, DJ pools and mainstream radio. She can do them. Enough said.
Getting back to “Inside Love’s Window”…
I was blown away the moment I heard “I Can’t and “More Than Friends” and I believe most people will follow suit. This is not your usual stuff. There’s just something in LaDeana Michelle’s voice that draws you in and makes you listen and yearn for what’s next to come. She can really sing and she sings from the heart. Her deep lyrics are from the heart. Then…there’s a matter of her music. It is the type of music that makes you think, reflect, reminisce and just plain feel good. Just as I was growing tired of feeling angry with all the radio-driven songs directed towards being single, loose, promiscuous, hateful and troubled, LaDeana Michelle comes along and delivers a breath of fresh air. I suddenly want to love again…to see what’s lurking and waiting in the wings…to explore the possibility that there really IS love still out there.
Hmmm…I wonder.
Whether or not it is and will remain just a fantasy, at least LaDeana Michelle’s “Inside Love’s Window” has every characteristic necessary to provide that glimmer of hope for those who need love.
As if? Possibly.
