Appeal to My Brain When did sex start to infiltrate every aspect of our life? You can’t turn on a radio or TV or open a magazine without it being thrust into your face. Sex is used to advertise everything from clothing to cars Chivalry Died in 1965 This may be a slight generalization and the year may be slightly off, but in summation, chivalry seems to have been lost at a time when women's liberators burnt their bras. I don't need a bra, but damned if I want to be amongst those that choose to burn theirs. Crime and Punishment I like to think about how things would be if I were in charge. OK - so I have a bit of a god complex I suppose - but I definitely think I could make things better. And if I had to pick just one area that I could be in charge of - I'd definitely choose crime and punishment. Grandparent or Parent? I went to lunch with a group of people the other day. Some were friends, some I had just met. And although we all had a great time, all I could focus on was a disturbing growing trend around me: Grandparents raising their children's children. This is far from the norm. Why? Fat Commercial How would you feel about a commercial depicting a car getting stolen by a young, black male as an example of why you should get their insurance? What about an ad that says “Don’t be a retard, buy from us‿ and depicts a mentally disabled person? Not a very politically correct argument to purchase their product. Weighing In I’m going to preface this article by stating my opinion on obesity and people that are overweight. I don’t believe that being overweight is a disease. Much like I don’t believe that alcoholism or drug addiction is a disease. I believe they are lifestyle choices. Period. It Must be your Glands? I'm so tired of hearing fat people make excuses for their weight or saying that is how they choose to be. It is understandable if you have a medical condition and for that I hope a cure is in the making. My heart goes out to you. It is okay to be chunky. To have love handles. To be cuddly The New Lottery Since when did every accident, tragedy, loss or mistake, become a lottery? You hear about it in the news every day. Accident plus lawyer equals huge jury verdicts. They range from car accidents to falls in stores to defective products. Sometimes the products aren't even defective. They're simply not idiot proof. Case in point: a woman suing McDonald's (and winning) for burning herself with coffee. Playing God I am against the procedure known as abortion. I thought that instead of pussyfooting around the issue that I would get that out there in the open. I just wanted to make sure you knew where I was coming from. It is not a subject I am comfortable with. I see it as playing God. And I don’t know about you, but that’s not what they named me when I was born. Rose Colored Glasses (or, Why I’m Pissed at NBC) At what point do we go too far NOT to step on somebody's toes. It's been happening gradually over the past few years as Political Correctness became more and more fashionable. While I find some things to be offensive, rude and stupid, I see the steps taken to avoid seeming offensive, turning into giant leaps from rationality. One is being Pro Life, one being Pro Choice and those that are Pro Abortion. Why Should I Pay For You? Recently I picked up a magazine and read an article by a working mother. I was furious. She was whining about making money at work and having to hand over her hard earned cash to the baby sitter and felt that the government should be doing more to help her with child care.
