Bad Date Stories
A blind date named, Jim

Jim seemed exceptionally nice when I spoke to him on the phone; I was was really looking forward to meeting him for the first time, outside the cinema at 6:00 PM the next evening.

When Jim held his had out to greet me that night, he was as handsome as I'd pictured him. Jim was tall and appeared almost regal in his well-trimmed, red beard.

It was during the film that I noticed Jim was pulling on him beard with his fingers. He'd grasp the entire beard and twirl it around his fingers, then pull his fingers downward. When through, he repeated the process. This distracting habitual movement continued throughout the two and a half-hour film, never once stopping! As we left the theatre, I noticed Jim still doing it! Oh, no; I thought, this is too annoying!

He invited me to join him in a late night snack at the corner deli, but the thought of having to watch his incessant beard twirling over a meal was nauseating to me.

Finally, I worked up the nerve to him, if he was aware of his annoying habit? After all, maybe he had no idea he was twirling his beard, or if so, just how irritating and distracting it could be for others. Honestly, I thought he'd just say something like, Oh, am I doing that? I'm sorry, I'll stop! And he'd stop. That would be the end of it, and we could go on dating.

Well, it didn't happen like I hoped. I asked him about his habit of beard twirling and he said if I didn't like it, I was welcome to walk away. He left me no choice but to say, Goodnight!, and walk away.
