Careful Who You Dial!!!

I was working part-time in a bar when in came this guy who I hadn't seen for years. He had hung about with my friend’s older brother back then and I always thought he was really cool.

So he has a few drinks with his friends, then another few, and asks me out. I say yes OK, to call me and we can make arrangements (thinking that he may well not seeing as he is wearing 'beer goggles'). To my amazement he comes into the bar the following night and asks me out again - saying that he had meant it the night before and wanted to do it sober! How sweet!

So we make arrangements and go out to dinner. I was finding the conversation a bit strained since he was quite quiet and I was doing most of the talking, so I thought that if we went on for drinks I would get him a few shots to help him loosen up. Well did that work!!! After the couple of shots, he tells me that he is going to the loo and might be a while, as he needs to do a dump!!! I give a giggle and while he is away decide that maybe we would be better off as friends.

At the end of the night we had a quick peck and made loose arrangements to call, which I think we both knew would never happen. And it didn’t, but these things happen.

Cut to four months down the line, and I am out with my girlfriends at a local bar. We were all quite tipsy and at the end of the night my friend Nicola asked me to mind her bag and her mobile phone till she went to the bathroom. So I had her stuff and went downstairs in the bar to see some other friends, but when she comes back I didn’t have her phone! I freaked out and pulled my bag apart to no avail, so I decide to phone her phone and see what happens. When I called it this guy answers and I tell him, look I'm very sorry, but that is my friends phone he has and I just left my friends phone down for a minute, I really cant afford to buy her another one, so can we be cool and can he leave the phone with the doorman of the pub. The guy is totally non-compliant and says he doesn’t know what I'm talking about this is his phone (usual patter from mobile phone thieves). So I start to beg him to give the phone back when my friend walks over grinning and with her phone in her hand. I stare in horror at my phone and realise that I dialled my date ‘Nike’ instead of ‘Nicola’!!!! I mumbled a brief apology to him and hung up very swiftly.

The first thing I did the next day after reaching for the paracetamol was delete his number from my phone…….
