Cheap does not begin to describe it
by Michelle

In high school, a friend of a friend had his date to the dance cancel on him at the last second (It later became painfully clear to me why.) As a favor, she asked me to go with him at the last minute. I didn't really know him, but I thought "why not? it could be fun." So, regrettably, I agreed. The date did not even start well. Even with the short notice, I managed to get him a boutenir (spelling?), but he, judging by the look on his face did not ever give a corsage for me a fleeting thought. Then, we rode to dinner (with his mom!). I did not have previous knowledge of which restaurant we would be eating at, so when we pulled up I thought that surely his mother was just lost and turning aroung. But, no. We had arrived. At Hooters!! So, there I was in a dress, before a dance, eating at Hooters. Yes, this was just a dream date. As the meal progressed, and my drink was nearing empty, he proceeded to inform me that I could not order a refill as he had not brought enough money. Could he not afford and extra dollar?!?! Then, when his mommy dropped us off at the dance, and we got in line to pay, he shuffled his feet, looked down, and said that he couldn't pay to get into the dance. Luckily, I had brought money just in case something of this nature happened. You never know. And as I was dishing out fifty dollars, I was thinking to myself, "Am I not doing him a favor by coming with him at the last minute?" (or at all really, he wasn't that cute.) After we were admitted to the dance, I believed that I made it clear that not only was there no chance for ANYTHING between us, but that I was also pissed off. During one of the few dances that he cornered me into, he actually tried to kiss me! I left right then and had to call my friend to pick me up. All I can say is that I hope that he never procreates. But I don't think that there is much danger of that.
