Lose Control
by Nena

When I was a junior in high school, I began dating someone named Jeff. He seemed so awesome. He was sweet, he'd go to my violin performances and bring me roses, he'd do anything for me. Well, the deeper into the relationship, the more controlling he got. He wouldn't let me see or talk to my best friends. He wouldn't let me go to tennis tournaments, he would even get mad if I went on a trip with my family. He would also make me feel so small and insuperior. I felt stupid when I talked to him because he seemed to know everything and I was never ever right about anything. He was a year older than me, so whatever. But I just couldn't take it anymore. I knew I was better than that. Eventually, a year and 2 months later, with a lot of convincing from my friends, the ones that I had left, we broke it off. Just this December 26, 2003. As much as it hurt to actually do it, I know that I am so much better of. I am happy and I can do whatever it is I damn well please. Not to mention I began seeing one of my best friends Wes. He makes me smile wider than I ever have before. I guess just for anyone who's reading this, don't let anyone control you or tell you what to do or make you feel less than what you are. No matter how many times they tell you they love you, the pain they cause you will never go away unless YOU do something about it.
