The Promise Guy

If at all possible, take notice when a guy says "I'm different that any guy you've ever met"...or "I'm not like the other guys that hurt you and left you".... A list of promises that should send up the red flags like 4th of July rockets flares include but are not limited to:

"I'll never leave you"
"I'll never quit on you"
"Yours til the end"
and here is my favorite
"I'M NOT A PLAYER!!"

If he uses the words "never" and "always" frequently, take notice....fast.

I see it this way. Whatever promises he is making to you right now are most likely the very things he is afraid he will do to you. He is making the promises to make himself feel better, to convince himself that he would never hurt you etc. What they mean is :

"I will leave you"
"I'm just like every other jackass that hurt you"
"I will quit on you at the first sign of trouble"...

Switch the "never and always"..watch this:

"I'll never leave you" becomes "I'll always leave you"...I'll never quit on you" becomes "I'll always quit on you and everything else that's hard for that matter"....see my point?

I'm not advocating lack of trust. I am saying USE YOUR RADAR..that was given to you as a gift. Avoid denial, it only serves to cut off your emotional intelligence. Keep your wits about you. Promises are actions carried out, not stupid words never acted upon.
