Bad Date Stories

Occassionally we do receive some feedback about parts of our site that we’d like to share. Here is one such letter:

“Killed some time checking out your web site. I must say that the stories are pretty funny. I would have to say out of about 5 bad date stories I read, almost all of them sounded fake.

On top of that, by the way they talk, the majority sound like they are 15, 16, or 17. I am from the 80's generation myself and I next to never heard things like "totally rejected".

Still, for a bunch of teenagers, it's pretty funny to read. Maybe those guys are jerks. On the other hand, if these girls don't get the clue in the first few minutes that this guy is a jerk, she is clearly in her early teens.

But like I said, the majority of those stories sound made up anyway. I'm sure some guys date multiple chicks at once, but based on some of those stories, it sounds like 1 in 3. In my lifetime I've only known 2 guys who dated multiple girls.

Anyway, amusing reading to say the least.

Dear Aaron,

I am happy to hear that you have had a perfect dating life. Unfortunately - not everyone has it as good as you. I too am from the 80’s generation, and not only have I heard the expression “totally rejected”, I’m sure I have used it on occassion. It also brings to mind a Fleetwood Mac song - “Freedom”:

“Beautiful as you are
With that high spirit
Morning star of evil hit me
Cut me like a knife
Cool and collected
She became that with time
Totally rejected”

I’m sure Stevie Nicks isn’t the only person on earth to have used it.

As for the writers sounding young and / or the stories sounding fake. Well - there could be truth to both. Although Sheila may take offense to that - the worst sounding stories aren’t only true - they’re hers. :) I know the really outrageous ones are. Poor girl. It’s also amazing how well guys can conceal their true “jerk” self the older they get. Practice makes perfect, I guess. Some aren’t as easy to pinpoint in the very beginning. So not spotting a “jerk” right off the bat isn’t a sign of being young. It happens at all ages.

Unfortunately there are plenty of guys that cheat on their girlfriends (or date “multiple girls” as you put it.) I’ve dated a few myself. Must be common or trashy talk shows couldn’t stay in business. Not to mention the entire Mormon religion. haha. I have plenty of guy friends, and in polling them all - more than half have done this at some time in their life. Maybe you’ve just never found more than one woman that would date you at one time. (Unless you’re one of the two guys you know.) Or you’re the rare breed: a “good guy”. If so - cookies to you. ;)

But mostly these stories are here to amuse. Hopefully they can make people feel better about the bad dates they have had. My motto is - “If you haven’t had a Bad Date - you’re not dating enough.”
