Valentine’s Day Special

Don't go boating on a first date!
It was a beautiful sunny day in May last year. I thought how nice it would be to be out on the lake enjoying the sunshine.  I had been emailing back and forth with this "gentleman" for a few weeks and he told me he had a boat he wanted to get out.  I was thrilled to take the afternoon off and meet him for what I thought would be a relaxing and casual day on the lake.

He told me he wouldn't have time to stop for beer and asked if I could pick some up on the way, of course I said I'd be happy to.  We met first for a lite lunch which he decided I should pay for since he bought gas for the boat, that was fine.  When we tried to get the boat in the water it was obviously getting very rocky and rough in the water and it took him 5 times trying to finally get the boat from the dock into the rocky water.  I was a bit apprehensive at this point because the water was extremely choppy, but he said it would be fine, so I trusted his judgement.

We got out into the lake and he was driving the boat like a maniac.  I actually screamed in terror several times as the boat went flying into the air. I kept asking him to slow it down, but he just laughed and called me a whimp. At one flight into the sky we flew about 20 feet into the air and I landed on the back of a seat on my side. At this point I was in terrible pain and pleaded with him to slow down, he thought I was being overreactive and just kept going.

Clutching my side the whole time I finally persuaded him to return me to my car. When we got back I asked if he would put my cooler into my car as I wasn't up to lifting it.  He did so, but not before emptying out all the beer I bought into his boat.  When I got home I was still in so much pain and so I then went to an urgent care center where I had exrays taken and was told I had a cracked rib.  I was out of work for a week and half after this incident.

I never spoke with the "gentleman" again.
