Bad Date Stories Don’t Date at Work!
I always made a rule to never go out on a blind date. Now I wish I had never broken that rule.
I was working as a service rep and talked to salespeople from our company on the phone all
of the time. I started flirting with Jeff, and it went on for almost 3 months before we decided to meet. He was super friendly on the phone, made me laugh, and had a really sexy voice. We liked a lot of
the same things, and I felt like I already knew him, so it wasn't like a "real" blind date.
We agreed to meet for dinner the next time he was in town. First of all, he was 5'2. Not a big
deal except that I am 5'10. As we sat down and started talking I noticed that he never looked at me when he talked. He kept looking around the room. At first I thought he was just nervous or shy, but it
got to be really annoying. Then he was extremely rude to our waiter, acting like he was king of the world or something. When the food came, he kept talking with food in his mouth and little pieces
kept flying out. It was disgusting!! When the check came he said "I know how you women libber people are, so I'll let you get dinner." I was fully prepared to pay for my half, and I might have
offered to pay for his, but just the way he said it, like he was doing me a favor, shocked me. Especially because I don't consider myself a "women libber" person. I paid anyway, then he argued
with me about the tip I had left, saying it was too much.
I had already decided not to go out with him again by the time I got to my car. I was glad I hadn't told anybody at work that we were
going out, so I didn't have to tell the tale over and over throughout the day. However, the next morning I was called into my boss's office and told I was fired. Seems we had broken the company rule of
employees not dating one another, and someone had seen us and snitched. When I tried to explain that we weren't dating, that we had just met that night, my boss explained to me that Jeff was married to
his niece, and that he wouldn't have a homewrecker working for him. I was so in shock that someone was actually married to him, that I don't think I fully realized I had lost my job until after I had
finsihed cleaning out my desk.
What a jerk!!!!
