Who’s Your Daddy?

I don't know if you could really call this a bad date or just a mistake...I guess we could call this one "Who's Your Daddy" I have been working at my new job for about two weeks now. There is this guy there who does deliveries and who is a bit older, just how much older I didn't know. He has a 14 year old son, but...

Anyway, so I'm working away on Saturday when I get this phone call, it's him. He asks me if I wanted to go to the movies. For lack of any good excuses or anything better to say, I say "Uhhhhhh, yeah sure," before I could stop myself. I then asked a girl at my work how old she thought he might be. She guessed about 50. Ugh! (Not that 50 is old or anything, just too old for me.) I was then sorry I said yes and wished I didn't. But to keep my integrity in check, I met him at the movie regardless. I thought I'd at least get a free movie out of it, but noooooo! (It's a good thing I brought money.)

Dating in the 90's is so weird. My mom says to let them pay so I was going to this time, I thought older man, older dating techniques. Well he must have come from a little Dutch town or something cuz he just got out seven bucks for himself.

We went into the movie and talked a little before it came on.  When it was over, he wanted to go for coffee. ( I paid for my own coffee too.) We were talking about dating when he said it's like looking in a mirror because of our similar views on that subject. (Okay whatever!) Then he suggested, because he has a motorcycle, that we go for a ride sometime. He said we could even leave the day before and stay somewhere in adjoining rooms (I don't think so!) Not long after, I said I have to go cuz I have work in the morning. So we went back to the cars and I got in mine and put my seatbelt on hoping he would get the hint and go away, but he was like making plans for our next date. I changed the subject so I wouldn't have to commit to anything and it worked. He finally shut my door and I left, thankful that it was over. I already have a father, I don't need another.

UPDATE:
As it turns out this could be a lesson in why you shouldn't go on dates with people you don't really know. About 2 weeks after this date I was informed that I should be careful around him. He had  asked me out again (I guess the guy just doesn't take hints very well).  I was so proud of myself - I said no and he seemed to take it very well. Good thing!  Turns out the guy is not  only old enough to be my father - he's also a registered sex offender!!!  I have to say I feel very lucky that nothing happened - but I sure did learn a lesson. I don't think I'll ever be afraid to hurt  someone's feelings by turning them down for a date. The word "no!" is now definitely a big part of my vocabulary!
