Your Look, Your Life

February 2, 2004

This past weekend I witnessed some of the most loving, giving amongst strangers!!

It all started when a friend of mine's German Shepherd was hit by a car. This loving 2 year old, "Lexi", is in desperate need of surgery. To help raise funds to pay the vet, Lexi became a "Pet in Need" at IMOM.org

If you aren't familiar with the organization, IMOM is an all volunteer 501(c)3 corporation. Their mission is to help people help pets. To better the lives of sick, injured and abused companion animals. They are dedicated to insure that no companion animal has to be euthanized simply because their caretaker is financially challenged.

Lexi has her own message board, and reading the posts I was amazed by the generous nature of all involved. In a matter of hours they began raising funds for her surgery. The people shared their own stories of pain, loss, happiness and joy that being a pet owner / animal lover brings. Some were friends of Lexi's - but most were complete strangers. It was an amazing display of compassion and generosity.

February is the month of love - and this is a place you feel it.

To read about Lexi, click on her page: http://www.imom.org/pin/gf/lexi_cannon.htm or better yet - read the posts in her forum: http://pub38.ezboard.com/fimomcommunityfrm19.showMessage?topicID=595.topic

If anyone is as moved by these stories as I was - I ask that you put your money where your heart is. Lexi isn't the only animal in desperate need - but she is one close to my heart. Anyone can help any animal with just a few dollars.
