The Flip Side What Gals Want (for gifts)
As hard as it is to shop for guys, gals can be even harder. Especially if it’s a boyfriend or spouse doing the shopping. The women we spoke with seemed to break down their gift expectations
into a couple of different categories: New boyfriend, long term relationship and friends. Price didn’t seem to be too much of a factor.
From a boyfriend you haven't known for too long:
“Not chocolates!”
“maid service”
“Tickets to a concert or play ( a night out on the town)”
“If I had a new hobby, something that would go with it.”
“DVD movies” “plants” “If I collected something (personally,
wind up toys -Sheila. hint hint. *grin), then something for my collection”
“Books, especially on a subject I really like, or from an author that I have read and liked.”
“CDs. Although it’s kind of cheesy to get just one.”
“My favorite is a stocking filled with little things that I like. From my favorite candy, to movie passes and little trinkets that I love to
collect. These types of gifts aren’t really appropriate from a boyfriend when given individually, but all together, it’s really thoughtful.”
From a husband or long-term (over a year) boyfriend:
“A weekend away”
“A vacation”
“Romantic evening at home with a huge bath
tub full of rose petals, chilled Dom Perignon & fresh strawberries. A soothing all over body massage to top it all off.”
“Romantic dinner for two at a restaurant I have been dying to try but
could never get a reservation for”
“Gift certificates are way too impersonal, but a half or full day of beauty at a spa is perfectly acceptable.”
“Concert or theatre tickets (a night on the town)”
“If I had a new hobby, something that would go with it.”
“Just don't buy me chocolates or the types of gifts you would give to your
mother.”
“Comfy pajamas that my husband knows I will love. Lingerie is nice, too. But sometimes it’s really nice to get sleepwear that’s just for me, and not just something he can’t wait to get me
out of.”
“Anything that he’s known that I’ve wanted for awhile, but will never buy for myself. Which can be anything, I know. For me personally it’s usually something expensive for my kitchen that
I absolutely drool over every time I see it.”
From a friend, male or female: “movie passes”
“Starbucks gift certificates”
“something I collect”
“Origins Bath products (they smell so good)”
“Hand lotions and potions”
“books”
“cute t-shirts”
“little purses” (from Trixie..hint hint. *grin)
“movies”
“chocolate”
“cookies”
“cheesecake”
