About the Book
Just who, and what, is Gossip Girl?

The book: Gossip Girl is Cecily von Ziegesar's debut novel; a racy story involving a group of urban teenagers with a lot of money to burn.

The setting: an elite NYC private school filled with kids born to every advantage—wealth, status, looks. They feel entitled, they're sophisticated, they're cosmopolitan, they're worldly. And they deal with the same problems kids deal with everywhere—friends, parents, drugs, sex, college, eating disorders, etc.

The narrator: the anonymous Gossip Girl, who talks about them all online, using only first initials to identify her subjects. And all her readers—who ARE her subjects—keep on coming back for more.

If Carrie Bradshaw from "Sex in the City" had a little sister, she would be Gossip Girl. Everyone who's anyone is talking about Gossip Girl.

The story: fast and fun reading—a "guilty pleasure" for older teens.

About the Author
Cecily von Ziegesar
A 25-year-old writer who is definitely of the world about which she writes—she attended a fancy Manhattan prep school and lived to tell all about it. She walks the walk and talks the talk, so her characters and their conversations and antics ring completely true.

The Review
This is one series that has something that Sweet Valley High never had - cattiness, money, sex and scandal! A fun peak into the lives of the privileged, beautiful and filthy rich. This pleasure of a book allows you to escape your own reality and enter the world of these worldly teens. Although their lives may be a little hard to relate to, their feelings, friendships and ties are universal. Maybe you'll have as much fun as I did trying to figure out which of these chicks is "Gossip Girl". :)

At times hilarious, and at times tugs at your heartstrings - this is a series that should live on for ages.
