dorisMartini
I thought it would be best to first offer up the description directly from dorisMartini's site. After all - wouldn't they be in the best position to accurately describe just what the heck they're about?
Based in Santa Cruz, California, dorisMartini brings you music from the underground: pop, rock and hip hop from all corners of the country and the world. From the Israeli rock band The Flying Baby who live in their van anywhere on the west coast of California, to emerging singer-songwriter Stew (from Los Angeles’ The Negro Problem), doris brings you an unpredictable dose of aural entertainment.
Our comedy, skits and interviews are from left of center. From Dick Cheney to Billy Ocean, we leave no comedy stone unturned. With our regular “column” “ the Conspiracy Theory Minute” we explore the seamy underbelly of our nation's government. Our on-the- fly interviews render some fucked-up results.
Developed by Kati Sprenger, dorisMartini combines musical, comedic and pop influences into the startling mélange of humor, music and information you will hear WHEN YOU BUY A STINKIN’ SUBSRCRIPTION
I have had their first 3 issues playing in my car for a couple of weeks now. I had to take them out of my computer because I wasn't really getting much accomplished in the office. It wasn't just because they had me laughing. And it wasn't just because it was also attracting a crowd of listeners around my already chaotic space. I think I decided these had to be removed from my work environment when I began to have a running conversation with..umm..I guess myself. I began adding my own dialogue to some portions of the CD. I was so hooked on the "interviews", the commentary and such, that I began adding my own two-cents before and after some of the musical tracks (which weren't all particularly to my liking - but hey - I'm getting old and un-hip. What do I know?). Sadly I think my two-cents is really only worth about 2 pesos compared to the punchy sketch comedy found within this CD.
Yes - it's a CD. Yes - it's a magazine. Yes - you should subscribe! To do so, head on over to the eye candy destination that is dorisMartimi.com (If you don't believe me - listen to some of what they have to offer while you're there.)
