The Interview
Week #2 saw the cattiness emerge, and Katie Cleary leave the fold. We talked with her on the phone, and found the cattiness we saw on TV was definitely real. "Catty? Yeah, it was getting pretty bad." When asked how she and Ebony (who tried to keep 4 of the girls from a photo shoot) got along, Katie was a bit diplomatic. "We have different views. She is just out to win. More competitive." Pretty nice for being one of Ebony's targets. We think Ebony was just jealous. She wasn't chosen as one of the girls to hang out at Wyclef's studio - and Katie was. "It was awesome! Oh my god, he is awesome. He's one of my favorites. He wrote a song for us."
This sexy gal pal isn't new to the world of modeling. Which may have hurt her chances. "They wanted to take a nobody and make them somebody. I had done Playboy. I already was somebody." Was she surprised how early she was let go from the show? "Definitely. I thought maybe 5 or 6 at least." All that sex appeal may have been too much. Tyra was a bit catty herself saying Katie looked like Miss July for a calendar. "She was saying that just because it was TV. They needed to create drama."
Overall Katie believes the public saw the real her on the show. She also knows she would do things differently if she had to do it over. "I would be blah. I wouldn't even try. Not try to be sexy." She was also surprised to learn how models are perceived. "They want perfect. Nobody's prefect. Nobody."
Katie's thoughts for the remainder of the episodes: Giselle will be kicked of next. Nicole or Shannon will win because they're "humble, down-to-earth girls." Katie also believes the girls will be better off making friends while they're there.
What's next for Katie? "More modeling, traveling. I'd love to be on E! as a correspondent."
With her confidence, looks and drive - we think Katie can do just about anything.
