The Interview
Robin Manning was our least favorite model on America's Next Top Model. We didn't care for her preaching, bible-reading ways. She was just a touch too holier-than-thou. So interviewing her was a bit surreal. She was very much the southern lady (I could have done without being called ma'am) and spun the tale of her personality in an expert way. If you hadn't watched the show you would almost love her. But...... I had been watching the show. Love wasn't quite the emotion I was feeling.
When I flat out asked her about her seeming "Preachy, snotty, stubborn and bitchy at times", Robin quickly responded with "That's called good editing." Robin explained that they pretty much became a character. It was a character based on their true personalities, but blown up. Does she reads the bible all of the time? "Yes. But do I do other things, too? Yes."
Ahh - maybe I'd get her on the vanity question. If vanity is a sin, why model? Isn't that a contradiction? "If you're a model it doesn't mean that you think you're 'all that'. You don't perceive yourself as the best. A Supermodel can be humble. It's a chance to travel the world and learn things." Mmm hmmm. Still seems like a vain career if you ask me.
Robin hadn't modeled professionally before. She had done a few fashion shows, etc. A friend talked her into trying for the show as a favor to him. As one of the chosen finalists, she moved into the house with the intention of becoming a role model for woman of all sizes, shapes and colors. Yep - this size 6 (sometimes an 8) chick is considered a Plus Size model. That thought alone is enough to make me sick. She's a size 6! Yowza! Something is a bit screwed up in the modeling world - but that is another rant.......
The entire experience was more than Robin had hoped for. She does admit that if she had known there would be nudity she wouldn't have done it. But overall the experience was more than she had expected. "There was more hands-on experience. I learned a lot." She has no regrets and wouldn't change anything. Although the trip to Paris wasn't the greatest time. It isn't what she wants to be remembered for. But hey - those were great episodes! Of course we're going to remember those.
Reality vs. Real life. No, Elyse and Adrienne didn't hate the bible-thumpers according to Robin. She also went on to say how funny Adrienne was, and how she liked living with all of the girls. "It wasn't as catty as you would think. There was no time to be catty."
Robin most enjoyed working with the acting coach, and hopes to work more in the acting field. She isn't sure if she'll pursue modeling. "I'll see what comes my way." As for who will win? "I pray Miss Shannon wins. She is really sweet and deserves it. But Lord has his reasons for whoever wins."
Oh Lord.
