Birthday Girl
Starring Nicole Kidman in a very unusual role which she pulls off with a charm. Also starring Ben Chaplin, Stephan Mangan, sexy Vincent Cassel and Mathieu Kassovitz.
Chaplin lives about 40 miles outside of London, has worked for 10 years as a bank clerk and orders a mail order bride from Russia. Then we meet Kidman, playing the Russian mail order bride which is funny in itself and the script cracked me up. Her cousin and one of his friends show up on Kidman's birthday and they stay for a few days, translating for Chaplin as his new bride doesn't speak a word of English.
This is a must see movie. I was laughing in so many parts that the stranger next to me kept giving me weird looks. Maybe it was because I was in Hong Kong and most of the audience where Chinese and some possibly had a different sense of humor to myself.
This adventure of a lifetime was shot mostly in Australia and was part of the last Sundance Film Festival.
