The Others

I had expected that I would be on the edge of my seat throughout this film. An intense movie of suspense. It was a bit slower paced than expected, slipping into an almost hypnotic rhythm. Surprisingly (because I am not a fan) Nicole Kidman did a great job of playing Grace, a woman raising her two photosensitive children by herself in a secluded mansion. The film wasn’t scary, or even creepy - but the ending did give me goosebumps.

Wonderfully acted, with a twist ending that I will not give away here. Worth a see in theaters (just so the ending isn’t spoiled for you by the time it’s on video.) Otherwise, it would be just as enjoyable on your couch in the dark one night on DVD.
