Passion of the Christ

Starring James Caviezel, Maia Morgenstern, Monica Bellucci plus far too many more people to name. I finally broke down and saw this film, only because I had seen everything on TV this particular evening. It had such mixed reviews that I was not sure what to expect.

Whatever you do, if you have not already done so, DO NOT SEE THIS FILM. I wish I had never seen it. If I had the evening to do over again I would watch repeats on TV over and over again rather than subject myself to such disturbingly, graphic violence which does not do anyone any good to see.

I just don't understand why on earth anyone would want to make such a film and subject people to such unnecessary violence. What good does it do? Surely no-one could seriously say this is entertainment? It is over two hours of an actor portraying Jesus from the time he is taken into custody to the time he is resurrected after dying on the cross. Two hours of torture to this man with a story which could be told orally in about 2 minutes max. Literally, all you see is two hours of a body being tortured, beaten, broken and battered. I only stayed in the theater thinking that an actual in depth story would soon be told but it never was. I couldn't even watch the screen all the time as the blood shed and violence was too much to see, even if it is just fake blood and make-up.

What astounds me is the US government putting restrictions on what the DJs can say on the radio and what can be seen on TV, yet everyone seems to be rallying behind Mel Gibson and his movie. If the government wants to really do any good they should look at violence in the movies and put the restrictions there. There is too much violence in the real world we live in each day and by adorning the big screen with such gore people are being numbed to what a terrible thing violence is.

Do yourself a favor and do not subject yourself to the horrific violence in this film. No-one needs to see this sort of thing in their life time.
