Raspberry Reich

Toronto based screenwriter and director, Bruce LaBruce had his first porno film screening in 199 which was called Skin Flick. Since then he has starred in and directed such porn films as Super 8, Hustler White and No Skin of my Ass.

Raspberry Reich was my first encounter with LaBRuce’s work and unless I develop a yearning desire to watch boy on boy porn, will probably be my last. Rumor had it that I was in for 90 minutes of soft porn, but there was nothing ‘soft’ about it. No pun intended.

The actual story line, if you could call it that, was rather interesting, being that it was based on a true story of the Baader-Meinhof gang, who reeked havoc in Berlin in the 60s.

In Raspberry Reich, Gudrun, the east German leader of the gang, leads her group of healthy, young lads who are all meant to be anti war, anti capitalist revolutionaries. Oddly enough, Gudrun feels that everyone needs to be ‘free’ sexually in order to commit to the cause, and forces her gang members to have sex with each other. These mostly heterosexual men, who, through the insistence of their leader, have sex with each other and there is nothing ‘soft porn’ about these scenes,

Pure guy in guy sex filled the screen for most of the movie, Many audience members walked out of the theatre at the first site of a penis or a blow job. More left when the anal sex started. I was left in the theatre with the gay guys who where transfixed to the big screen. I had to stay just to see what would happen next.

If you are into tongue in cheek gay porn then this flick is for you.

Note: Set in Germany but everyone speaks English.
