Lava Baby: Big Muff
About the Band - The Bio
(Taken from Lava Baby's website, www.lavababy.com)
"Lava Baby formed when childhood friends Miss Brown and vocalist Robyn Celia composed their first formative number in third grade. Following high school they convened to create an ill-fated dance cover group and eventually enlisted the guitar talents of Marc Piovanetti to help dig their way out of the disco ball. The addition of Jen Salzman on keyboards and Peter Cole on bass rounded out the Lava Baby experience and the act set to charming local scenes with their no nonsense approach to promotion and undeniably electrifying live performances. In the Right Place was an out of the box smash debut and not just because most people got it for free, but because Lava Baby's music instantly recalled both the drive and accessibility of influential seasoned favorites like Blondie and Veruca Salt while remaining fresh alongside such contemporaries as Sugar Ray, Smashmouth, No Doubt and Lit. "
The Review
I was pretty bummed when I heard that Lucious Jackson had broken up. Then I received a copy of Big Muff, and there was sunshine in my days (and my ears) again. This CD is fun, fun, fun. These chicks aren't afraid of being girls. I like that. The gals are cheeky, the tunes are catchy, and the attitude is overflowing and dripping with spunk. My favorite tunes so far are "Sex Junkie" and "Say What I Mean".
I would pick up their CD and catch a show if you get the chance. I have a feeling that their days are numbered before being snatched up and thrown into the major limelight.
