Los Angeles (June 15, 2005) – Tommy Lee’s “Tryin’ To Be Me,” the first single off his new solo album, was the #1 Most Added Song at Mainstream Rock and #2 Most Added at Active Rock last week. This week shows even more promise with a debut at #35 on the Active Rock Billboard Chart as “Tryin’ to Be Me” is the #2 Greatest Increased record of the week. The single has now been added at over 70 stations in the first two weeks of release and already pulled Top-5 requests across the country. Lee’s solo album, Tommyland: The Ride is set to be released August 9th.
The album is a collection of rock-driven tunes, some infused with pop, electronica and other flavors, that chart the foibles of romance, celebrity and life in general. The album will satisfy rock devotees and others with its solidly constructed hooks and guest performances by such artists as Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), Joel Madden, Carl Bell (Fuel), Deryck Whibley, Andrew McMahon (Jack’s Mannequin / Something Corporate), Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys), and Butch Walker.
Tommy Lee is currently on a sold-out world tour with the newly reunited Mötley Crüe, one of the most popular and successful hard rock bands of all time, with career album sales totaling more than 40 million units. The tour is expected to be one of the top grossing tours of 2005. Its recently released career two-disc anthology, Red, White & Crüe, debuted at number six on the Billboard chart and is certified platinum. In late 2004 Lee’s autobiography Tommyland hit the New York Times best-seller list. His new television show, “Tommy Lee Goes To College,” premieres on August 16th on NBC.

The Review
Fun rock and roll through and through. I don't know where Tommy Lee found the time to put this CD together... but he did, and I'm glad. Featuring a variety of guest artists, Tommy Lee chose the right people to work with. I was surprised by Nick Carter's inclusion on this disc (on Say Good-bye).. but for some reason it just works.
