28 Days
Bettie: Next I shall review 28 Days staring Sandra Bullock.
I found this flick to be emotional, funny, and charming (although I think using the word charming for a movie that delves into such issues as drug and alcohol abuse is rather oxymoronic). It was still charming none the less. It was Hollywood's idea of giving up the juice and getting sober. (And Hollywood ought to know about that, eh?) Some parts were downright hysterical, I found myself laughing loudly. Other parts hit home and I found myself grabbing the left over popcorn napkins to wipe the tears away.
I talked to a couple people about this film and all they could say was "it was sad." But I felt it was much more than that. While it is sad what happens to people when they let
drugs and alcohol control their lives, this was a story of triumph over a greater force. It was a quest for a new and better life. I guess I took this movie to heart since I sort of know
what addiction feels like, how it can get a hold of you, turn your life into shambles, and effect everyone in it.
How you have to hit your bottom before you can come back up and how you can overcome...even if you have to forget everyone who you think is anyone. Enough of the psych shit, go see it...even if you
think it's sad, you will still laugh at the German fag.
Sheila: 28 Days starring Sandra Bullock was a comedic drama which dragged on for a little too long during the middle of the movie. Sandra is great in her role, but
unfortunately, the previews painted a better picture of the movie than
the actual movie itself. A young women who's mother was an alcoholic, also suffers from the same disease. She is sentenced to 28 days in rehab after crashing a limo through the front of someone's home in a drunken stupor. During rehab, she fights the 'going sober' process, but eventually realizes that 'going dry,' will improve
her life, and help her to live a better life. She brings joy to the other patients and discovers who she can be without drugs and alcohol.A cute movie to see on a Sunday afternoon, or wait until the
video release and have a night in with hot chocolate and popcorn.
