Almost Famous
I have finally seen this movie after promising to months ago. For
any fan of music, for anyone that ever thought of being or really was a groupie, for everyone that has ever tried to get backstage, for everyone that has dreamt about meeting your musical idol -
this film is for you.
This tale of a young music writer hitting the road with the musical group Stillwater is a bittersweet tale of reality not quite meshing
with the preconceived notions of our "idols". We all tend to idolize the famous at some point. This is a great story of learning that your
"heroes" are all too human. That excusing their behavior only goes so far before you realize that they really aren't the same people we put on pedestals.
I took this film a bit personally. To "L." - I understand completely now why you wanted me to see this. I understand the tears. It was a great reminder of why I
never wanted to meet anyone famous that I really liked and admired. Sometimes it's better to live with the dream than to face reality.
I've already added this to my collection. :)
