Hannibal
Starring Anthony Hopkins, Julianne Moore, Ray Liotta and Gary Oldman, this movie is the follow up to Silence of the Lambs. Set a decade later, Agent Clarice an FBI agent, this time played by
Julianne Moore instead of Jodie Foster, once again sets out to find the ruthless serial killer, Hannibal Lecter. Gary Oldman plays the victim who survived a meeting with Hannibal and is out for revenge.
He pays off a justice department agent played by Ray Liotta. We are shown that those who enter into a conspiracy get their just desserts in the end. A pun yes, but it will be understood if you see the
movie.
The cast are excellent in their roles. The movie a little long and dragging at a little over two hours in length. I cannot bring myself to recommend this movie to anyone though. The sheer
violence is too much for anyone to stomach. Even young men leaving the theater were heard to comment that scenes in the movie were amongst the grossest things they had seen in a long time. Personally I
will have a hard time sleeping tonight. An interesting date movie though as all the women in the audience with guys could be seen snuggling up against them, hiding their faces in the sleeves of the guys
they were with. The guys just closed their eyes.
Don't read the following if you want some surprises in the movie.
I could handle the scenes with the intestines flying out of a man's
stomach as he hung from a rope, and the flesh being stripped away from another man's face, but I just couldn't bare to see Ray's scalp sliced off as he stay awake and parts of his brain cut out, fried,
then served to him to eat. It was purely disgusting and not something anyone should watch. Sick, sick, sick, is all I can say.
