Relative Values
I loved this movie, but it may be because of my Aussie/English humor. I'm not too sure how well this movie would go over in the states. It may receive a screening at the smaller, more
alternative theaters. I hope so. It deserves to be seen.
Based on a 1951, Noel Coward play, Relative Values, the movie, was filmed on the Isle Of Man, late last year. An all star, extremely
well cast film including Julie Andrews as a countess, Collin Firth, Billy Baldwin as the often drink, Hollywood star, Jeanne Triplehorn and Sophie Thompson.
This comedy delves into social values
and the 1950's aristocratic English families. Havoc is caused when a newly broke, Hollywood actress, sashays her way into a wealthy British family, ready to do what it takes to marry the eligible count.
Twists and turns abound as her true love shows up in the English country side to take her home and her secret is revealed by her sister who turns out to be working for the Countess.
Superb writing
and acting make this a great movie, not to be missed. That is, if we are lucky enough for this movie to make it to the states.
