Shafted
From SXSW 2000
What can you expect from a midnight madness movie? Not much. Cheap laughs, off the wall story lines, a movie that probably appeals to an audience who got high in
the lobby before the show. A white guy is released from a mental institution for the criminally insane and thinks he is a black super hero from the seventies. A Japanese ballerina takes on the
role of her detective brother in order to find his killer. The social worker is tired of being meek and mild, watches Foxy Brown and takes on the role of Pam Grier's movie character. The scenes were a
little long in some places and the laughs few and far between. See the film at a midnight screening and you may like what is on the screen. The big screen is a much better way to see this movie. A TV
just wouldn't make it as interesting. by Sheila
Cheesy cheesy movie. The main character is a released mental patient (white) who believes he's Shaft. There were plenty of funny moments
and scenes including a lot of references to different genres of movies popular in the 70's. But at the same time a also did fall asleep during the movie for just a bit. So unless you're really into
cheese - I'd only watch at a midnight madness or on video at a party. by Trixie
