The Thing Called Love
This is an extremely cute movie about people creating friendships and dealing with the joys and frustrations that life brings while following a dream. And what a dream it is!! Samantha Mathis,
Sandra Bullock, River Phoenix and Dermont Mulroney star in this film about young singers that came to Nashville to become famous. You can almost feel their desire and adreneline through the screen. The
presence of country artists in the movie is just a bonus. And although Sandra Bullock's role in the movie is smaller than usual (pre-Speed) - it's her character that is the funniest and sweetest.
There's a scene in which Miranda is told it's tradition to (Samantha Mathis) go to the top of a hotel in Nashville and yell out something like "Watch out Music City 'cuz I'm here and I ain't never
leaving!" And when she does it reminds you of all those dreams and desires you once had. And it almost makes you want to give it one last shot. :)
Anybody that's ever had the dream of
becoming a famous-whatever will really enjoy this film. (Trixie, March, 2000)
