The Wedding Planner
The Wedding Planner, starring Jennifer Lopez, and Matthew McConaughey, was a little funnier than I had anticipated, but the movie was still lacking something. The two actors were fun to
watch making goo-goo eyes at one another throughout the film. I did laugh quite a bit during the first half, but that’s about it.
The story finds Mary the wedding planner unknowingly falling for one of her grooms. To throw in a bit of a loop, Mary’s father pretty much prearranges a marriage for her with Massimo.
This is where the movie lost me. Everything about the movie that didn’t make sense to me revolved around the Massimo character. Maybe if they had cut him out of the story altogether I would have found it
a bit more enjoyable. Maybe. For the most part it was predictable and screamed for a happy ending. Which it had.
If you go to the movies a lot and like the romantic comedy, no matter how
believeable...go ahead and see it. (I’d recommend a matinee.) It could make a cute date movie. If you’re a bit more picky - give this a pass and see something with more substance.
