The Virgin Suicides
Written & directed by Sofia Coppola and produced by Francis Ford Coppola, this movie packs a punch. Starring Kathleen Turner, James Woods and a very well cast group of young actors and
actresses. The title was enough to catch my eye, and was a must see when I read the stars who were playing lead roles. I wasn't disappointed, this is a great movie. Set in the 1970s, a middle class
family catches the attention of their suburban neighbors when the youngest daughter attempts suicide. The parents are overly religious and overly protective of their five daughter. They especially want
to protect their girls from the opposite sex and the family is in what appears to be, social interaction quarantine. As is often seen in overprotected families, the girls rebel, and desire the forbidden
fruit. This leads to a bizarre series of events which you have to see. -Sheila (June 2000)
