Macy Gray
On How Life Is

Macy Gray’s voice is one of those that you either absolutely like or absolutely hate. There’s really no middle road - or so I thought.

I bought the CD because I loved her voice on I Try. It was unlike any singing voice I’d ever heard. Then I started listening to the CD and the very same thing that made me buy the CD (that raspy voice) made me shut it off. Not because her voice is bad on any song - it’s not. It just became a little annoying after a few songs.

If you like her voice - or if you only listen to a few songs at a time like I do - this is a fabulous CD. My favorite song so far is I Can’t Wait to Meetcha. The beat is really good, and the songs stick in your mind. All in all it’s an impressive debut. I’m hoping the CD will eventually grow on me enough to listen to straight through.

Buy the CD here.
