Cat Power
“Moon Pix”

After reading a review on this CD I decided to check it out. I listened to some of the sound clips online and the song, “Cross Bone Style” is ultimately why I decided to buy Moon Pix. As soon as I got it I  forwarded it to track 10 and listened to it over and over.  I have a somewhat obsessive/addictive habit when it comes to songs I like. I listen to them over and over until I can’t stand to listen to them anymore. A few hundred more repeats and I should start getting pretty tired of it!

After listening to the whole CD I’d still say that "Cross Bone Style" is my favorite song. When she sings “oh come child, come and rescue me, cuz you have seen some unbelievable things”  it gives me the chills!   Another favorite is “Say”, I love the flute, piano and thunder.

The whole CD is very slow and the lyrics aren’t the best I’ve heard but  they're better than a lot of what I've heard lately. Moon Pix also helps  me relax and is good wind-down music after a long stressful day.

Chan Marshall’s voice is full of ache and intimacy. Her voice kinda  reminds me of a mix between Sinead O’Connor and Mazzy Star. This is the Georgia born singer/songwriter’s fourth album and she slips in lines from the hymn Amazing Grace (Metal Heart), Sonic Youth’s “Schizophrenia”, and a tune she learnt off a Bob Dylan bootleg (Moonshiner). She’s joined by Jim White and Mick Turner from the Australian slow-rock band the Dirty Three.
