A trip to Michigan would not be complete without eating at Daryl's. At least not for me. I'll easily drive an hour or more out of my way simply for their house salad.

Daryl's is a surprising find in this area. The atmosphere is casually chic, laid back elegance. It is a place to eat with friends, or as I have done on many occasions, dine alone. Who would have thought that in this part of Michigan you could find escargot, mussels, oyster Rockefeller, spinach pizza, baked brie, and my personal favorite: vegetarian pasta. (They even make a vegetarian version of their red pepper sauce when asked.) Their roles are to die for, and I hear they make an excellent steak.

Lunch will cost about $10-$15 per person. Dinner can be about $25-$30 including dessert. You definitely want to save room for dessert. It is worth every cent and calorie.

Originally Titi and I stopped to eat here last year because it was the only place we had found open on a Sunday. (Their hours have since changed.) It easily became a favorite of ours, and of all of our friends with whom we travel to Michigan. Daryl can usually be spotted in the restaurant, and often talks to the patrons about their dining experiences. The wait staff has always been superb - even with all of my special requests and changes.

On Friday and Saturday nights the place becomes the social gathering place in town, so I would definitely recommend reservations. I have met many people from the Jackson area here, and have always enjoyed my dining experiences. Lucky for me I'll be in the area a lot over the summer. Maybe you'll see me there. I just want to know how we can lure Daryl down to Columbus. :)
