Energy Sucking Friendships
Maybe you know these people. I do. Heck, sometimes I worry that I am one of them. Maybe you work with someone who fits the profile. Maybe you don't realize who they are or why you are feeling
drained when they are around. These are the people who suck your energy away. The ones who always whine and complain about everything in their lives. These people often can not find a positive thought
in their brain, let alone know how to verbalize one. They always see the glass as half empty and never as half full.
When your time is taken up by these energy suckers, you often feel tired and
stressed. They bring down your own personal energy high and can often make you cranky.
When you sense this happening, try to walk away and regain your energy before it has all been zapped. Attempt
to mentally block out the whining. You could also try to point out the positives in the situation. See if you can find good in the bad situation to point out to the energy zapper that not all is bad.
Breathe deeply. Energize your surroundings with uplifting scents such as citrus. Don't let yourelf be pulled into the drama. If you need to, cut the enery sucker out of your life and try to surround
yourself with positive, happy people. They keep your spirits up and prevent you from becoming one of the people who bring you down.
Good Luck, Ms Watt, October 2000
