Unique Gift Giving Ideas For
Everyone On Your List
(c) 1999 by Bob Jacobs, Jake's Marketplace, Inc.
Christmas is just around the bend and it's time to start thinking of possible gifts. Don't
you get tired of buying the same old presents? Ties for Dad, kitchen appliances for Mom,
perfume for your teenager and toys for your kids. Every year you search for something
unique, something truly original. Every year you come up with a blank and concede by
rushing to the mall on Christmas Eve to find something to fill the stockings and put under
the tree. Until this year, that is. Finally, here is a more appealing solution to
Christmas shopping.
Money.
That's right, money. Not simple everyday money, however, but collectible money. Coins.
Paper money. World currency. Proof sets. Even novelties and gags.
"So, what's so great about money?" you ask. (Nah, you wouldn't ask that.) But
maybe you're wondering what's so great about this type of money!
For one thing, money doesn't to lose its value. Actually, the value increases consistently
for many coins and bills. And money is very collectible.
Even your teenage son would probably like a full set of the new quarters that went into
production this year to commemorate the 50 states. So many people are collecting
them already, in fact, that they're starting to become hard to find in common pocket
change. If you start early, you can have the entire set by the time they've all been
minted.
Special memorabilia such as proof sets, silver bars or collectible coins are a great way
to acknowledge meaningful dates. Many people would love a proof set to recognize a special
year. How about the year Mom and Dad got married, or the year your nephew graduated from
high school? Even the year your uncle opened his furniture store, or the year your Aunt
Eileen retired could be remembered with a commemorative gift.
Looking for some fun? Kids of any age would love a giant coin replica or an elongated coin
that looks like it's been stretched out of shape in a copper pull. What about a two sided
coin? You can't lose a bet with this one! Or, you can give a "king's ransom"
dollar bill with Elvis' face on it, or a "royal holiday" dollar with a picture
of the Duke. And any child would be delighted to find a greenback with Santa's face on it
tucked into his or her stocking.
Numismatists (coin collectors) and materialists aren't the only people who will enjoy a
gift of money this year. Even non-collectors will find pleasure in a variety of
currency-related gift items that are sure to be more favored than the argyle socks that
Aunt Millie selected.
