The Road to Arkansas
(The Adventures of Trixie and Titi - part 3)
We finally arrive in Booneville, Arkansas. We get checked into our motel room for the week just in time to see the Tornado warnings flashing on the TV. The power flickered on and off a few times as it poured down rain. Welcome to Arkansas in March.
The next few days were a quiet break from society. My cell phone didn't work until I got about 15 minuted away from the town, and there didn't seem to be an internet connection in town. It was almost like I was living in the 80's. :) I toured the town to check things out. When Titi's brother arrived in town I made the most important discovery of the week: Booneville looks a heck of a lot better from the back of a Harley. Unfortunately - it's a very quick trip through town - and that's if you get stopped at both traffic lights in town. (Yep - that's me and Tree in the pic.) I can't say that I'd recommend Booneville as a tourist destination - but it wasn't a bad place to kick up the heals for a bit. The surrounding countryside is absolutely beauitful and the people were very friendly.
Booneville is a dry town, so we ventured to Ft. Smith a couple of times during our stay. This was a little bit more like civilization. My cell phone worked and I could log on-line at the library. We also found had ourselves an unexpectedly good time when we ventured out for an evening....
