You may have to go to Hollywood for the best tour of film- star homes, but London has been home to far more celebrities than any other city on Earth.

Some lived all their lives in London, others only part. Samuel Johnson maintained that "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of Life". Benjamin Franklin lived for some time in London and regarded England as home.

There are many famous homes, houses and preserved museums in London but for the visitor wanting to see more than the usual tourist route, the following, less well known sites may prove interesting.
