The audience seemed to find amusement in much of the movie. I personally needed sub titles to understand a large amount of what was being said. At times I was sure the characters were speaking a foreign language. I was however, able to follow the story line, but unfortunately missed much of the comedy possibly due to my lack of intermingling with Jamaicans in my everyday life.
The acting was similar to what you would find in a B grade movie. Great for a late night showing when you are up for some cheesy corn and too tired to care if you are following along with the dialect or not.
The movie is scheduled to be released world wide in February of 2000.
Trixie: Like Sheila - I had a lot of difficulty understanding the dialog, but the rest of the audience must not have had
any problems because they were laughing throughout the film. The only way I can think to describe this movie is to say it is almost a Jamaican "Lethal Weapon" - with the additional conflict of being a cop
faced with the choice of his job over his friends.
It wasn't the most original story in the world - but being shot in Jamaica was unique. The scenery and background had a very authentic feel to
it.
